Suceava is the hub for launching visits to the painted monasteries and beyond. Via e-mail we had made arrangements to pick up a car and driver from Bucovina Estur, but at the last minute we couldn't figure out the rail connections from Sinia to Suceava.

We called a couple of times trying to cancel or reschedule, but there was no answer. There also no message recorder and no FAX tone. Felt bad about being a no-show. I learned much later that Teddy of Bucovina Estur was waiting at the train station as agreed. But my opinion is that it is important to be able to adjust this kind of trip by couple of days to fit personal feelings, health, weather, unexpected opportunities.

I now know that we probably could have had Teddy drive south from Suceava, cross over the Carpathians and meet us along the main railway. We will do it next time.
