St. Cere of the Lot

St. Cere is the nearest market town to Puymule. We have walked to and from several times. Best way is down the steep old horse trail through the forest. This shows as a jeep trail on 1:25,000 maps but it is only for walking. At the base of the hill turn left along the D19 for about a mile to the D130. Left on the D130 for another mile; then left on a walking trail along the near side of the Bave. The trail leads along the levee on the north side of the Bave almost into St. Cere. Wander the farm roads and back streets into St. Cere.

St. Cere is a small town but it has everything including a modern hospital, a wine store and three camera shops which process film. Fortunately we have had more need of the wine store and camera shops than the hospital.

There is an farmers market once or twice per week. But there are plenty of bakeries, butcher shops, fish stores open all days of the week.

The river in the photo is the Bave. It widens out and slows down on its way through St. Cere. There are fish in the Bave, including a few trout, but I definitely wouldn't drink the water.
